Boston artist Stephanie Marcus says, “We talk about protecting animals, but animals protect us too. The star of my incessant stream of drawings and paintings is Kitty, a thirteen-year-old grumpy furball who serves multiple functions in the work. At times cuddly and soothing, she can also be a foil for self-loathing and judgement. In my mixed media pieces, she has morphed into a dragon, a Tibetan snow lion, a mountain, an alter ego, and a damsel in distress. She’s more than a muse and an annoying roommate–she’s an indispensable friend who rescues me on a daily basis.”
Stephanie earned a Masters in Fine Arts from Lesley University College of Art and Design and a teaching license from MASSART. She teaches art in Randolph, MA.
